Author Albert Bennetti debuts with his new novel “In a Buffalo Robe” (published by Archway Publishing), which tells the tale of a young man’s experiences as a hazardous journey for gold with his family unwittingly leads him straight into a historical Civil War battle.
Olaf Swenson believes that at 16, a man should be making his own way in life. Unfortunately, his father has been dictating his and his brother’s paths ever since he decided to unsuccessfully follow the wealth of California gold prospectors. With the Rocky Mountain gold rush Olaf embarks on yet another gold adventure with his family.
Bennetti explains that while taking place in the 1860s, Olaf’s struggles are timeless and universal. He adds, “We have only one responsibility confronting us in our lifetime. That is to act out the Lord’s will.” Bennetti, a Vietnam veteran, draws from his own experiences in hope of offering a story that will benefit society.
An excerpt from “In a Buffalo Robe”:
“I fear death, Father. I don’t understand why our loving Father in Heaven allows men to take each other’s lives,” I said, allowing the whole of my suppressed underlying thoughts to be stated.
