Inaugural World IBS Day Launches April 19th for 700 Million Worldwide IBS Sufferers
New annual event will raise 10 cents for every social tweet on the day in order to raise awareness about the quality of life issues while living with Irritable Bowel Syndrome and to show strong support for research and healthcare professionals
NEW HAVEN, Conn., April 17, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The IBS Patient Support Group, an online patient community for IBS sufferers, announced a new initiative this April to designate April 19th as World IBS Day to raise awareness for Irritable Bowel Syndrome Patients and to show strong support for research & healthcare professionals in their pursuit to find treatments. Irritable Bowel Syndrome is a common digestive disorder which can significantly impair a patient's quality of life. It affects roughly 10% of the global population or 700 million people worldwide.
World IBS Day asks for people to use the hashtags #LetsTalkIBS, #IBSAwarenessDay or #WorldIBSDay on social platforms. For every tweet, post or #hashtag on April 19th, 10 cents will be donated to support research and education for IBS.
The World IBS Day website is located at worldibsday.org and is supported on this inaugural year by organizations and individuals from Australia, United Kingdom, Canada and the United States. Organizations, institutions, vendors and industry involvement are invited to join in via the website.
