INCPAS President & CEO Bolinger Repeats Top 100
(PRWEB) September 07, 2016 -- For the second consecutive year, Indiana CPA Society President & CEO Gary Bolinger, CAE has been named as one of the Top 100 Most Influential People in Accounting by Accounting Today, the leading trade publication for the CPA profession.
The list is primarily national in scope but includes some international figures as well. The annual ranking from Accounting Today began more than a decade ago.
Gary BolingerBolinger joined the Society in 1984 and became the chief staff executive in 1991. He is one of only six state CPA society chief executives to make the list. The impressive list includes leaders of the world's largest CPA firms, key staff from the American Institute of CPAs, chairs of several accounting regulatory organizations, the commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service, and leaders of various accounting publications and consulting organizations.
Some of Bolinger's recent accomplishments include developing the award-winning CPA Center of Excellence® and advocating for competency-based education and new learning and collaboration platforms for CPAs and other business professionals. He has also overseen implementation of the INCPAS 2025 plan that provides a framework for the organization's and profession's future, the first integrated reports by any CPA association in the United States, and successful diversity programs that are beginning to impact the accounting profession in Indiana.
"It is quite an honor to be named to the Top 100 list once again," said Bolinger, who received the Sagamore of the Wabash award from Indiana Gov. Mike Pence in 2014. "After working in this profession for more than 30 years, I have been fortunate to work with and get to know many of the people on this list, and admire and respect the others. It is a list of people who are truly making a difference for one of America’s most highly-regarded and trusted professions."
A second Hoosier, M. Darren Root, CPA, CITP, CGMA, of Bloomington was also named to the list. Root is president and CEO of RootWorks, a technology-focused consulting and teaching firm with offices in Indiana, Michigan, Colorado and Oklahoma. He is a member of the Indiana CPA Society and served on the Society’s Board of Directors from 2006-08.
Those on the list have proven to be powerful and visionary leaders in the accounting profession during a time of change and transformation. The editors at Accounting Today consider several activities that candidates for the list must do including to innovate and create, educate, regulate, cross-pollinate and elevate. Finally, they also require candidates to be visible and well-traveled.
