Industrial Engineer Turned Entrepreneur Launches Online Athleisure Store
Michelin's Aliyah Powell Reveals Fit Fashionista Clothing Line for Women
LOUISVILLE, Ky., Nov. 10, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Aliyah Powell, senior industrial engineer for Michelin, is excited to announce the launch of her online retail store, Fit Fashionista, which is a go-to destination for high quality athletic wear at affordable prices.
The e-commerce site officially went live on Monday, November 2 with the release of Powell's "Animal in Me" collection, which includes six matching sets of tops and leggings in a variety of animal prints and colors. The collection ranges in price from $25.99 to $47.
"My personal fitness journey began after struggling with thyroid issues, life changes and other health problems that caused me to gain more than fifty pounds," Powell said. "I reached a breaking point and decided to dedicate my mind, body and spirit to healing myself from the inside out. Fashion was something that helped boost my confidence in the gym, and now I want to share that gift with the world."
The website also features two separate fitness challenges — one for the gym and one for at-home routines, which will grant customers exclusive access a two-week meal guide and customized full body workout regimen created by the fitness experts from FITUP Gang for just $13.99.
Participants who enter will send their fitness goals, health goals, starting weight and starting measurements to join the challenge. A grand prize will be awarded to the best transformation. The challenge officially began on November 9, but anyone interested can join after the start date. To be eligible for the grand prize, participants must submit their after weight, measurements and photos.
"I want Fit Fashionista to be a brand that can make women feel good in all aspects," Powell said. "They will feel confident in our chic pieces but will also have the resources to actually achieve their body goals without unrealistic expectations. We are creating their programs to fit their lifestyles, which is the key to success."
While studying at University of Louisville, Powell served as treasurer for Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., chair of academic excellence for the National Society of Black Engineers and vice president of programming for College Mentors for Kids.
In her career at Michelin, Powell is certified in Lean Six Sigma. Upon certification, she was promoted to senior progress engineer, one of the youngest engineers to hold the position in branch history. Since then, she has supported plant wide projects and mentored others through the certification training.
Outside of her professional projects, Powell is an advocate for education, mental health and financial literacy. She serves as a member of Junior Achievement's Young Professional Board as well as Michelin's local community relations committee, diversity and inclusion council and women's network planning committee.
