Infrasense performed a subsurface utility engineering (SUE) quality level B survey to map the location and depth of subsurface utilities along a 2-mile stretch of Route 16 in Mendon, MA. Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) and Electromagnetic Induction (EMI) were the main tools used for the survey. Fieldwork also included the establishment of stationing, confirming manhole connectivity, and GPS locating of in-field marked utilities.
Following the field surveys, the data is transferred to Infrasense’s headquarters in Woburn, Massachusetts for quality assurance (QA) review, analysis, and reporting. Each GPR file was reviewed and “picked” to delineate observed subsurface utility lines. These areas were then compared to the existing as-built records and the EMI results. Results are delivered in a comprehensive report with descriptions of the data collection procedures, equipment, analysis methods, and results obtained.
