Infrastructure Expert Charlie Herndon Joins HNTB Corporation as Florida District Leader

In this role, Herndon is responsible for operations and client relations for the firm’s 13 offices throughout Florida. Herndon is based in the firm’s Tampa office and brings with him an enviable civil engineering resume and senior executive leadership covering planning, design, construction and program management of major highway, toll road, interchange, bridge, airport, water, rail and many other projects.

Herndon has been involved in hundreds of major transportation projects over the course of his career that spans more than 35 years. A sampling of his expertise includes various locations of Florida’s Turnpike, one of the largest consultant-administered highway construction management programs in the nation; Fuller Warren Bridge reconstruction in Jacksonville; Memorial Causeway Bridge construction engineering and inspection in Clearwater; Veterans Expressway toll road extension in Tampa; capital improvement program and multiple projects at Orlando Internal Airport; Interstate-95 expansion in Fort Lauderdale and owner’s representative services for Dade County at the American Airlines Arena in Miami.
Herndon’s professional affiliations include American Society of Civil Engineers, Florida Engineering Society and National Society of Professional Engineers.
He earned a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering at University of South Florida and is a certified quality control manager.
Before joining HNTB, Herndon served as a senior executive at Parsons Brinkerhoff, overseeing project performance for all planning and design services in a five-state Southeastern territory.
