Innovative Memory Game for Children Launched
London, UK (PRWEB) May 29, 2014 -- A father of two has recently launched a new and innovative memory game for children.
The game ‘Alphabet Memory Cards’ is available now for pre-order on the crowd-funding platform Kickstarter.com
The game breaks away from traditional tile games by introducing core memorization principals such as creative association.
The game’s creator, Noel Byrne, hopes to address the often overlooked problem of children not learning how to learn. Asked “why a card game that helps children to memorize?” he said:
“Memorization is a learned skill, improved by practice. Children spend thousands of hours in school and are often not given the tools they need to commit things to memory. The game attempts to address this issue in a fun and creative way.”
Explaining how the game works Noel said: “The game leverages the alphabet, this is a 26 character system you already know, so there is no real overhead in terms of learning.
The game encourages you to associate a word picture with the sound of each letter. So A becomes Ace, B becomes Bee, C becomes Sea, D becomes deed and so on.
This makes it easy to recall the chosen word picture later if you forget. This in itself is a positive affirmation that your brain can recall items you previously chose to remember.
The game comprises 26 single sided alphabet cards with corresponding word pictures, and 26 target image cards. The target image cards are double sided, so 52 different word pictures to challenge you.
The principal of the game is to associate the word picture with the target image and recall it later. This encourages the brain to make visually creative associations; this is the real key to memorization.”
Noel cites his own experience of school and being a father of two preschoolers as the drive and inspiration for the game.
