LOS ANGELES, June 23, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- HopSkipDrive, an innovative, safe youth transportation solution, released its second annual Safety Report, revealing detailed data about safety incidents, driving behavior and safety investments. The company is the only one in the youth transportation space to publish a safety report, and encourages others to publish annual safety reports to hold the industry as a whole accountable.
HopSkipDrive partners with schools, districts and government agencies to arrange alternative school transportation for vulnerable youth; families also use the platform to get their children where they need to go.
For the report, HopSkipDrive examined data collected in 2020, in which a total of 3 million safe miles were driven by CareDrivers across 15 markets in eight states and Washington D.C.
Takeaways include:
1. During 2020, no rides ended with a critical safety issue; 99.72% ended without any kind of safety-related incident.
2. While device use while driving is the current number one cause of accidents, CareDrivers use devices while driving 8x less frequently than the average U.S. driver.
3. HopSkipDrive CareDrivers display significantly less risky behaviors while behind the wheel, with higher safety scores than the general driving public.
4. HopSkipDrive responded to COVID-19 quickly and thoroughly. HopSkipDrive was the first youth transportation solution to implement plastic dividers between front and back seats as a standard operating procedure.
5. Rounding out HopSkipDrive's COVID-Safe Ride Standards, consistent with government guidelines, all HopSkipDrive users were required to wear PPE and CareDrivers were required to sanitize vehicles between each ride. Tech-enabled reminders and confirmations were built into the app's workflow and anonymous COVID-19 exposure reporting was put into place.
HopSkipDrive Co-founder and CEO JoannaMcFarland says, "Setting a high bar, for ourselves and the industry, is my theme for the year. I believe safety is more than compliance; it's more than just checking the box. HopSkipDrive is proactive, innovative and relentless about safety in order to set the bar above and beyond today's norms for youth transportation solutions. Publishing this Safety Report is just one tool we use to be transparent and consistently hold ourselves accountable."
