PHILADELPHIA, Feb. 20, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Shideh Sedgh Bina was awarded the Shamsi Hekmat "Woman of the Year" Achievement Award, a recognition that honors women who are making a significant impact on the Iranian Jewish Community as well as our society.

The Shamsi Hekmat Achievement Award nominates a "Woman of the Year" in the Iranian Jewish community to be recognized for her impact on society through philanthropic contribution, business leadership, societal change or other efforts. The award is named after Shamsi Hekmat, a woman born in Tehran in 1917 who pioneered reforms in women's status in Iran. Among her many contributions includes the establishment of childcare centers that provided free education, clothing, food and shelter in low-income Jewish settlements across the country. Upon immigrating to the United States, she established the Iranian Jewish Women's Organization to continue with her mission of empowering women to elevate our society.
