Our Pennsylvania offices drew praise for recruiting and retaining people with disabilities for contact center and IT services. Those hires showed they could adapt to a pandemic environment and give excellent public service.
ERIE, Pa., May 4, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- InspiriTec is the 2022 recipient of the Pennsylvania Workforce Development Association (PWDA) Employer Governor's Award.
The award is given each year by the Office Of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR), a division of the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry (L&I). It singled out not only InspiriTec's commitment to finding and hiring people with special needs across the Commonwealth, but also the performance of those people in their competitive, integrated jobs.
The official announcement called InspiriTec "an excellent example of an employer that has truly embraced Pennsylvanians with disabilities as a valued resource."
William L. Trusky, Executive Deputy Secretary for L&I, praised InspiriTec's agile and effective response to a pressing statewide need during the pandemic. "We needed a nimble inbound contact center solution that could scale up quickly," he said, "… and InspiriTec more than delivered under high pressure, pandemic conditions."
InspiriTec recruited, hired and managed a large number of new hires. The company also pivoted smoothly to a work-from-home environment, from which those hires delivered excellent service, fielding high volumes of calls and email inquiries, doing back-office fraud detection case work in support in the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance program, and handling general Unemployment Claims.
Nick Mendillo, Senior Human Resource Case Manager for InspiriTec, was singled out by the Wilkes-Barre District Office of OVR's Bureau of Blindness & Visual Services. Mendillo "exceeded expectations" and "was always accessible … available via phone or email for specific customer case concerns."
Mendillo humbly redirected the praise to the people he works with. "It's a wonderful company, a great place to work for," he said. "Our people ended up doing a great job during difficult times. I don't know where you find another company doing all these great things. We see the results."
"The pandemic was a test of flexibility for everyone," said Call Center Manager Chastity Mosby. "Our flexibility was what makes us successful. It was a big challenge, a change in everybody's lives. But to see the people respond to the challenge, to see them grow in confidence and be resourceful in the job, that's the most rewarding thing for a manager."
Team Leader Matthew Grimm said, "The company goes above and beyond, not only hiring veterans and people with people with disabilities, but also working closely with those people in the job. I saw a lot of people change their mindsets, learn how to work under the new conditions, and be successful."
"No one expected the world to shut down as of 2020," said Customer Service Representative Jennifer Graham. "We had to scramble to get the projects up and moving and serve the people. And it all evolved so smoothly, you'd never know the company had to hit the ground running. InspiriTec and the people they hire were willing to do something no one has done before. I was extremely excited to hear about the award."
