Integrating Clinical Research as a Care Option Conference Announced by The Conference Forum April 2019 in Raleigh-Durham, NC

NEW YORK, Jan. 30, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Conference Forum announced an event to help hospital systems and the pharma industry to integrate programs to give patients the choice of a clinical trial as a care option. The conference, known as CRAACO will take place on April 28-29, 2019 at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel in Raleigh-Durham, NC.

"For patients in need of a clinical trial, the burden is usually on them to find one as most physicians don't have the resources or time to locate a trial for their patients", said Valerie Bowling, Executive Director, the Conference Forum.

CRAACO will bring a variety of health systems from across the nation together with pharma and biotech companies, patient advocacy, payors, regulators, and innovators to chart a path forward integrating clinical care with clinical research options. Our goal is to present case studies and examples of those who have begun this journey and demonstrate the tools needed to bridge the gaps between pharma and healthcare", said Allyson Adams, Conference Producer of CRAACO.

The program will kick off with co-chairs Jeff James, CEO, Wilmington Health and Sarah Larson, Cancer Veteran and Director of Global Clinical Operations, Biogen on identifying treatment gaps for patients.

The speaking faculty will address the goals for care vs research, patient and provider input on the goals and challenges they are facing. The program will assess the operational barriers to integration.

UCSF Carol Franc Buck Breast Care Center notable surgeon, Dr Laura Esserman will delivery a keynote on integrating clinical care and clinical research. She will present the I-SPY 2 TRIAL™ as a case study clinical trial on improving the outcomes of early stage, breast cancer for patients who are at high risk for early recurrence, which would not be possible without the integration of care and research.

Other case studies will include Sanford Health System's astonishing growth from offering 3% of patients clinical trials to 10% within the last 8 years and a presentation from the Medical Center for Interoperability on building an interoperable data network to make patients the brokers of their own data.

The conference will continue on day two with discussions of operational barriers, the tools needed to start implementing clinical research initiatives, creating more awareness and understanding of clinical trials, and the role of pharma collaborations with healthcare. Consortia from Philadelphia, El Paso, and Chicago will present how they are building infrastructures for the integration of care and clinical research to serve their respective geographic regions.
