Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) May 01, 2014 -- VINTAGE 2014 is a crowd-funded multimedia documentary currently in production at several vineyards in Santa Barbara County, CA. It gives wine enthusiasts a chance to experience the journey of an actual vintage in real time, from bud break to barrelling. As a result of a successful Kickstarter project, two months of footage has already been captured and is being pre-screened at a series of wine-tasting events around the country.
The project focuses on the lesser-known agricultural aspects of winemaking, using time-lapse video and interviews with wine farmers to put viewers directly inside several Santa Barbara County vineyards. A collaboration of cinematographers, photographers and other visual artists allows viewers to follow the 2014 vintage. A series of photo essays and short films cover the most dramatic moments in the growing season, including the risk of frost damage and dealing with drought in California.
“The most exciting part about this project is that we are at the mercy of so many uncontrollable variables, just like the wine farmers,” Fernandez explained. “We're already learning how weather can affect the quantity and quality of wine produced. If 2014 goes down in the record books, we will have captured it.”
The event at Film Bar Phoenix will kick off with a complimentary tasting of several wines featured in VINTAGE2014 — Santa Barbara County Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and other varietals from Riverbench Vineyard & Winery, Buttonwood Farm Vineyard & Winery and Clos Pepe Estate Vineyard & Winery.
After an exclusive preview of VINTAGE 2014, Film Bar Phoenix will screen "Bottle Shock," a 2008 comedy-drama based on the 1976 wine competition when California defeated France in a blind taste test. The event begins at 7 p.m. and tickets are $10.
Bottles of Santa Maria Valley Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from Riverbench Vineyard & Winery will be available for purchase at the bar before and during the film.
