Global online school partners with American Public University System to offer high school students online career certificate programs.
COLUMBIA, Md., Sept. 3, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- International Connections Academy (iNaCA), a U.S.-based accredited virtual private school, began its 2019-2020 school year today. More than 800 students spanning the US and over 32 countries around the world logged on for the first day of school. New for the 2019-20 academic year, iNaCA is partnering with American Public University System, enabling upper school students to earn an APUS online certificate in one of three career-focused pathways.
Through the new program, students can enroll in APUS certificate programs in the areas of visual communications, real estate management and homeland security. In addition to in-depth career exploration, students can earn 18 college credits and an industry certificate while still in high school. College credits will also meet International Connections Academy graduation requirements.
"We're pleased to offer high-quality, personalized online education to digital learners all over the world, and look forward to welcoming new and returning students for the 2019-2020 school year," said Hannah Rinehart, School Director of International Connections Academy. "Our mission is to empower each one of our students and prepare them for success in a 21st century global society. With the addition of these APUS online certificates, we're thrilled to provide even more career-focused, quality college prep opportunities to meet the evolving needs of our students."

International Connections Academy student and one of five 2019 scholarship recipients, martial arts instructor McKenna Godwin-Butler will begin her junior year of high school this year. She joined iNaCA as an eighth grade student after her family relocated from Europe to Texas in 2015 due to her father's military service. The school allows her ample time to pursue her hobbies, including martial arts, while also staying connected to her international classmates.
"With International Connections Academy, you can connect with people you would never have connected with in public school," shared McKenna. "You have your own time. You can do your classes slowly or quickly – however you want to work. If you need to contact a teacher and they're not available, there are plenty of other resources, including teaching assistants and tutors who are available to help at any time."
iNaCA will serve more than 1,000 students around the world this school year who will learn from home or anywhere there is an internet connection. Certified teachers and supportive counselors provide one-on-one attention and guidance from enrollment to the college application process, leading to student acceptances at many exceptional schools. iNaCA students may tailor their schedules to accommodate exam preparation and extracurricular activities, and can take advantage of innovative electives and programs including APUS certificate programs, Career Technical Education offerings, world languages and AP courses.
