ISPE Convenes Premier Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Event of the Year in Atlanta, Georgia
Bethesda, Maryland USA (PRWEB) September 12, 2016 -- The International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE) will hold its biggest event of the year and one of the premier annual events for pharmaceutical manufacturing next week in Atlanta, Georgia. The 2016 Annual Meeting & Expo being held from 18-21 September, features more than 80 education sessions and 200 exhibitors, designed to help attendees address the issues of providing more effective, quality medicines to patients, through the integration of drug products, biologics, and cutting-edge drug delivery systems.
“ISPE strives to provide world-class education to an international pharmaceutical manufacturing, operations and quality audience at the 2016 Annual Meeting & Expo. ISPE’s goal is to help take the evolving industry to the next level and, ultimately, to contribute to improving patient lives worldwide,” said John Bournas, ISPE President and CEO.
On day two of the conference, attendees will hear from Nicole Pierson the mother of Gavin, a pediatric brain tumor survivor. Diagnosed at age five with a teratoma, a rare form of cancer, he was the first pediatric patient to receive compassionate use for the drug Palbociclib, before it had received FDA approval. Nicole and Gavin will share their personal story of how compassionate use of this drug contributed to saving Gavin’s life. Nicole is an advocate for pediatric brain tumor research and is also the author of "Be Strong and Brave", a memoir about how Gavin's faith and hope saved his life.
Other distinguished keynote speakers include: Stephan Grupp, MD, PhD, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, discussing Leukemia treatment, and Flemming Dahl, Senior Vice President and Head of Quality, Novo Nordisk speaking about innovations in the industry’s workforce.
Highlights of the meeting include:
• A Global Regulatory Town Hall featuring eight international regulators.
• The 8th Annual 5k Charity Run/Walk to be held at Centennial Olympic Park that will raise monies to benefit CURE Childhood Cancer.
• Behind-the-scenes access to world renowned facilities in Georgia at Baxalta Shire, Alcon at Johns Creek, and the Investigational Drug Service at Emory University Clinic.
ISPE extends a special thanks to its Carolina-South Atlantic Chapter (CaSA) for partnering with us to leverage the best of what Atlanta has to offer.
