ISTE and Multimedia Development Corporation Announce Agreement to Develop Professional Learning Programs for Malaysian Educators
WASHINGTON, D.C. (PRWEB) December 15, 2015 -- The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE®) and Malaysia’s Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) today announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signaling their shared commitment to collaborating to advance excellence in learning and teaching through innovative and effective use of technology. The MDeC was formed in 1996 to provide Malaysia’s government with counsel and advice on legislation and policies for the digital age.
The agreement was signed this week by Dato’ Yasmin Mahmood, CEO, MDeC, and Brian Lewis, CEO, ISTE, in the presence of the Malaysian Minister of Education, H.E Dato’ Seri Madzhir bin Khalid during a special ceremony in Cyberjaya.
“Our new collaboration with MDeC is illustrative of ISTE’s commitment to supporting organizations around the globe that share our vision for transforming learning through the effective use of technology,” said Lewis. “We look forward to working with MDeC and Malaysian leaders to share the power of digital age learning with the country’s educators.”
Minister of Education H.E Dato’ Seri Madzhir bin Khalid said, “As part of our Malaysian Education Blueprint (2013-2025), we intend to provide equal access to quality education of an international standard, as well as leveraging ICT for this purpose. Therefore, I see this MOU between MDeC and ISTE to be an important step forward in preparing our educators to meet global competency standards.”
Under the MOU, both organizations commit to supporting the pedagogical development of educators by introducing and integrating the ISTE Standards and Essential Conditions for learning, teaching and leading in the digital age and Essential Conditions into professional learning programs.
