IT Healthcare Pioneer Named KaZee CEO; Company Founder To Become Chairman
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) July 10, 2015 -- Michael “Mickey” Bourdeau, a veteran healthcare information technology executive, has been named Chief Executive Officer of KaZee, Inc. filling the position formerly held by company founder Albert Woodard, who assumes the role of Chairman of the Board of Directors. Bourdeau was previously KaZee's Chief Operating Officer.
"Mickey’s background as one of the nation’s pioneers in the development and implementation of IT Health Information Systems makes him an ideal candidate to lead KaZee," said Woodard, who founded Atlanta-based Business Computer Applications (BCA) 37 years ago, the company that KaZee was spun off from.
Prior to joining KaZee a year ago, Bourdeau spent 12 years leading the University of Texas Medical Branch’s Correctional Managed Care Information Technology Department. Programs he and others implemented in the Texas Prison System resulted in an Electronic Medical Records (EMR) program that not only improved prisoners' healthcare, but saved Texas taxpayers nearly $1 billion dollars over a 10 year period according to the Gartner Group. Bourdeau spent more than two decades directing and implementing two of the largest state and county correctional EMR programs in the United States for the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, servicing 120 Texas Department of Criminal Justice adult prisons along with 14 Texas Juvenile Justice Department youth prisons, and Parkland Hospital, servicing 10 Dallas County adult and juvenile jails. His background in healthcare information technology includes posts with the University of Texas Medical Branch - Correctional Managed Care, National Nephrology Associates, IMRAC and Dallas Nephrology Associates.
"Mickey's previous successes combined with his 35 years of Healthcare IT experience has positioned him in the eyes of his peers as one of the pioneers in the healthcare IT industry," said Woodard. "His work in Texas resulted in that system being called a national model for the way it tapped into university resources with oversight from a state committee controlled by doctors, as well as for its innovative technological advances.
"His understanding of the sales, marketing and business development cycles will also greatly benefit KaZee and our clients," added Woodard. "I am delighted to be working with Mickey in his new position and helping to assure that he and the company continue to have the resources needed to support our customers, employees and business partners."
Bourdon earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics/Computer Science at Randolph-Macon College in Virginia and then a Masters of Science degree in Computer Science while attending both Southern Methodist University and the University of Texas at Dallas in Dallas. He also has certification in project management and Lean 6 Sigma Process Improvement methodology. He is a member of the American Correctional Association and Phi Beta Kappa Society.
