Alan Titchmarsh and ITV1’s ‘Love Your Garden’ team designed and built a dream garden for 15-year-old Harrison Torr who has terminal cancer in Episode 1 of Season 10 which was shown on Tuesday 25/02/20 at 8pm.

The team travelled to Hull and the home of Harrison, known as Harri, who was diagnosed with osteosarcoma - a type of bone cancer - in April 2018 after seeking treatment for a suspected broken ankle. In order to stop the cancer spreading, Harri’s leg was amputated from the knee down last year. Despite undergoing chemotherapy and surgery to remove lung tumours, Harri’s cancer returned, and he was given a terminal diagnosis.

In an emotional episode, Harri shared with Alan that he had created a bucket list which included a dream garden that he could enjoy with his mother, Erica. Inspired by the brave teen’s positivity, Alan and the Love Your Garden team created a peaceful, wildlife-friendly and low maintenance outdoor living space for Harri and his mother Erica to share.

After clearing the compact suburban garden and removing the old timber decking, the team erected stylish steel garden screens to ensure the family isn’t overlooked and a waterfall feature wall to provide the peaceful sound of running water. They built an outdoor cinema screen for the family (a first in the programme’s history), along with a wildlife pond for nature-loving Harri to enjoy and safe, durable composite decking for the family dining area and garden walkways. All the materials were supplied by donors, including Dino Decking, wishing to help make Harri’s dream come true.

The finished garden was a serene space, offering an oasis for Harri and his mum. The programme finished with Alan saying, "Harri says make every moment count, make every moment special. I hope Harri and Erica have lots of special moments in this garden."
