LIVONIA, Mich., June 3, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Racing legend and automotive trailblazer Jack Roush leads Roush Fenway Racing to his home state this weekend for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race on June 9 at the Michigan International Speedway (MIS).
As a 2019 NASCAR Hall of Fame inductee, Jack Roush is known for an entrepreneurial vision, which has resulted in companies that use ingenuity and innovation to solve complex engineering problems.
"When I started a NASCAR cup team, few would have given it favorable odds for surviving more than three decades," said Roush. "I'm thankful for the partnerships we've created along the way, including with Fenway Sports Group."
Roush is known as the automotive industry's "Willy Wonka," for creating Roush Enterprises, a home for those who share Roush's technical curiosity. Roush employs more than 4,000 people who operate facilities in five states and 19 countries. Although primarily known for engineering, management and prototype services to the mobility industry, Roush has developed a significant role in aerospace, defense, theme park, and oil and gas industries.
"Michigan is home to the racing and automotive empire that Jack built," said Steven Newmark, president of Roush Fenway Racing. "We are continuing the success he's constructed on and off the track."
In 1988, Roush launched his first NASCAR team, Roush Fenway Racing, with Hall of Fame driver Mark Martin. The team has won 325 NASCAR races and eight championships since debuting. Current drivers Ryan Newman and Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. will both compete this weekend.
"This team embodies the talent, grit and spirit that comes from Jack," said Stenhouse Jr. "We are a dominant force in the sport because of him, and I can't wait to make him proud this weekend."
The hometown race at MIS will offer a chance for Roush to compete with fellow 2019 NASCAR Hall of Fame inductee and Michiganian, Roger Penske and his Team Penske. Roush will also celebrate the homecoming with an employee event, "Join Jack at the Track." Roush employees and family members will join Roush for a day of activities and entertainment at the racetrack.
"We are delighted that Roush has chosen MIS to celebrate Jack's accomplishments and induction into the NASCAR Hall of Fame," said Rick Brenner, president of Michigan International Speedway. "Jack has enjoyed great success throughout the sport, including at his hometown track. We are looking forward to hosting more than 2,000 Roush employees and family members and are excited to share in this moment with them."
Roush Fenway Racing will also compete in the series at MIS on August 11.
