James Scott Farrin Sponsors Best Friend Pet Adoption Event to Save Puppy
DURHAM, N.C. (PRWEB) September 06, 2018 -- The Law Offices of James Scott Farrin is proud to support Best Friend Pet Adoption (BFPA) animal rescue at the organization’s special fundraiser at Triangle Wine Company, 575 New Waverly Place, Suite 103-B, in Cary, North Carolina. The event is Saturday, September 8, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
This event is being held in an effort to try to save the life of Cisco, a puppy who was born with a heart defect. BFPA rescued Cisco’s mother, Nelly, in April 2018, and soon discovered that Nelly had a life-threatening heart defect. It was also discovered that she was pregnant, and though pregnancy could have killed her, she was too far along to intervene. Nelly gave birth on May 4, 2018 to seven puppies, only three of whom survived. Nelly had her life-saving heart surgery in August thanks to many generous donations. Cisco has several of the same life-threatening heart defects. BFPA is holding this fundraiser to help pay for a life-saving procedure that can be performed at North Carolina State University Veterinary School.
Farrin workers’ compensation attorney Susan Vanderweert brought the event to the attention of Farrin’s Social Service committee. Vanderweert has been involved with and on the executive board of BFPA for 10 years. She said she has witnessed firsthand how this organization has had a positive impact on the lives of many homeless dogs and cats and the families who adopt them.
“I am proud that James Scott Farrin is supportive of the fundraising efforts to help save Cisco and support our other furry friends, many of whom come to BFPA with urgent medical needs,” Vanderweert said.
Best Friend Pet Adoption serves to provide medical assistance, foster homes, and adoption services to previously lost, abandoned, abused, or neglected animals in Wake County and surrounding counties. BFPA is a no-kill animal rescue organization and an all-foster network committed to helping cats and dogs in need of homes. Donations are their most important source of income as they receive no public funding.
This donation is one part of James Scott Farrin’s active and involved Social Service effort to give back to the community. The firm’s website says it strives to make philanthropic endeavors not an “after-thought” but an integral part of their mission of helping people. Recently, for example, employees have gathered every Wednesday to knit tiny hats for NICU babies as well as mats for the homeless.
James Scott Farrin has also supported organizations, such as the Coalition to Unchain Dogs, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Duke and UNC Children’s Hospitals, Durham’s Running of the Bulls 8k, the Ronald McDonald House, and many more charitable events and organizations.
