LONG ISLAND, N.Y., Sept. 29, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- JD Leonard, an elevating songwriter making imprints on the New York and Nashville landscape, released his debut music video "Just Drive" today to all social media networks and media outlets. The title track to his soon to be released record, "Just Drive" is a love letter to the country music video genre and a twisting concept piece that establishes itself as a commentary on the glitz of perfect image media. To view the video, visit Leonard's Facebook page or Twitter feed for links to it on YouTube.
Leonard, a Tennessee born singer/songwriter who is currently turning heads on the New York main stages and music row writing circles, is custom-made for the "who to watch" list. His latest endeavors have included opening stints for country music star Tyler Farr, the legendary Michael McDonald, and the chart-smashing group Air Supply.
"This is my first nationally released music video," Leonard began, "and while I'm aware of the impact of modern commercialism, sometimes things can start to look the same. Even though I wanted to make a video that's very current and 'today,' it was equally important for it to be something you've never seen. It's kind of like me paying respect to the industry but at the same time turning it upside down," he continued.
Created by Leonard and longtime songwriting partner Tommy Jones, the "Just Drive" video showcases Leonard's unique ability to write in simultaneous threads while never losing the listener. The takeaway is a four-minute film that stays familiar while swelling to an uneasiness that soaks over you in the finale.
"We approached the video like we approach the songs," said Leonard. "I always try to tap into universal themes and feelings, but I like the idea that if you change the camera perspective slightly, suddenly normal looks strange. If it ends up feeling familiar...and for some reason that feeling catches you off guard, I did my job," he added.
Leonard's album of the same name, produced by David Huff at Blackbird Studios in Nashville, Tenn., will be landing in the fall of 2018 (date to be announced). Leonard is currently promoting the upcoming release with his band (including guitar legend and Billy Joel musical director Tommy Byrnes) in esteemed musical venues such as The Paramount in Huntington, N.Y., the historical My Father's Place in Roslyn, N.Y., The Theatre at Westbury, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame venue The Bitter End in New York City.
