Jeff Ruby Foundation Auction Results Announced
Cincinnati, OH (PRWEB) October 20, 2017 -- In April, 2017, Jeff Ruby pledged the support of his charitable Foundation (http://www.jeffruby.com/jeff-ruby-foundation) to Ryan Custer after the 19-year-old college athlete was paralyzed in a devastating accident. Shortly thereafter, Ruby and his team went to work developing a unique, 2-week long online auction that launched in mid-September and just recently concluded.
The results are in and the Jeff Ruby Foundation is proud to announce that more than $162,000 was raised through the sale of sports memorabilia like signed helmets & jerseys, music memorabilia like Garth Brooks’ guitar, sports ticket packages like an all-expense paid trip to the 2018 NCAA Final Four as well as the 16-ticket Bengals luxury suite package for the Steelers game donated by Jeff Ruby himself and much more.
“I can’t say enough about the Cincinnati community,” Ruby said. “Of all the things we love about our hometown, this has to be the greatest: our collective willingness to help is unmatched. Anywhere.”

“The real story here is that an entire community came together to help a really important cause.” Ruby said. “Corporations stepped up to help. Individuals stepped up to help. Celebrities and donors stepped up - everyone from Garth Brooks, Johnny Bench, & Joey Votto to local businesses like Valenti Salon and Mr. Bubbles Detailing pitched in. This was a true team effort.”
Ryan is back at home but faces a long road ahead. He remains optimistic and very gracious. “I want to thank Jeff Ruby and all who contributed to the auction. I am so blessed to have people that would care so much for some kid they don't even know.” Ryan Custer said. “Believe me I will continue to work as hard as possible to get as strong as I can.”
Ryan’s father, George Custer, echoed his son’s gratitude. “On behalf of our family I would like to thank all that contributed and purchased items from the auction. And a special thanks to Jeff Ruby and his foundation for putting this together. We are truly humbled but the outpouring of love and support for Ryan and our whole family during this very trying time.”
The total amount raised exceeded Ruby’s initial goal of $100,000 and represents the largest single-event fundraising total in the Foundation’s short history. Specific plans for the funds have not yet been finalized.
