JetBrains Key Sponsor of Windward Code Wars 2014
Boulder, Colorado (PRWEB) November 20, 2013 -- It's been called "programming heaven" on Stack Overflow, and it's now one of the coveted prizes in the Windward Code Wars student hackathon. JetBrains has announced it will donate a free copy of any two JetBrains products, including the popular products IntelliJ & ReSharper, to every student on each school's first place team competing in the 2014 Windward International Collegiate Programming Championship.
The Windward Programming Championship, also known as Code Wars, is one of the most challenging student hackathons in the world. Teams from top universities around the globe have just eight hours to analyze a problem, create a solution, and test it against the entries of the other programming experts.
"Internally, many of our developers use JetBrains' top-notch tools to write great code," said Dave Thielen, Windward's founder and CTO. "We're excited that students around the world will be able to work with awesome tools that they may not be familiar with."
The contest is sponsored by document generation and reporting software leader Windward. Using Windward, companies insert their data into templates designed in the Microsoft Office add-in AutoTag. Reports and documents are generated in the Windward Engine, which is available for .NET or Java, or via the web-based reporting server, Javelin .
Teams that participated in last year's hackathon included winners Colorado State University and runners-up University of Maryland – College Park, along with Boston University, Brown University, College of William and Mary, Colorado College, Colorado School of Mines, Columbia University, Saint Petersburg (Russia) Computer Science Center, Georgia Institute of Technology, Harvey Mudd College, Hendrix College, Michigan Tech, Penn State – University Park, Princeton University, Purdue University – West Lafayette, Saint Petersburg (Russia) State University – Faculty of Engineering Cybernetics, United States Military Academy, University of Alberta, University of California – San Diego, University of Central Florida, University of Chicago, University of Colorado – Boulder, University of Toronto, University of Victoria, and University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire.
