LOS ANGELES, Dec. 3, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- On November 17, Jimmy Kimmel announced on Instagram that he and his wife Molly McNearney would match every meal donated to St. Joseph Center this holiday season. We are humbled to report that because of their friends and family we were able to serve over 3000 people!
Every year, St. Joseph Center helps low-income families put a Thanksgiving meal on their tables by providing a turkey dinner with all the fixings. This year, Jimmy, Molly, and their friends, family, and fans helped St. Joseph Center serve a record number of families, nearly twice the number from last year.
The turkey distribution took place on November 20, 2020. Due to COVID-19 protocols, St. Joseph Center couldn't rely on the help of volunteers, so staff stepped in to assemble 1,100 Thanksgiving meals with turkeys, yams, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and cranberry sauce. The meal bags were distributed through a "drive-thru" pick up for families to maintain social distance and keep everyone safe.
St. Joseph Center is one of Los Angeles's largest providers of services for low-income and homeless individuals and families, serving more than 12,000 people per year. St. Joseph Center has been active in housing as many vulnerable people as possible during the COVID-19 pandemic, reaching out to people living in cars, tent encampments, and other makeshift housing and placing them in safe housing.
"Every day in Los Angeles, we see fellow Angelenos who need help. No one does more to help them than the incredible staff and volunteers at St. Joseph Center. If you want to do something, support St. Joseph Center during the holidays and throughout the year." Jimmy Kimmel
