JobsWeb.com Sees 9.7% Decrease in Job Postings in July 2015
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) August 24, 2015 -- JobsWeb.com, the leading employment website for professionals in every industry, reports a decrease of 9.7 percent in the number of job postings to its employment site for the month of July 2015 compared to the previous month.
The employment website’s decrease in job postings aligns with the 6.9 percent decrease in the number of jobs reported by the U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics on Friday, August 7, 2015 compared to the previous month. Total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 215,000 in July, while the unemployment rate was essentially unchanged at 5.3 percent. Job gains for the month occurred in retail trade, health care, professional and technical services, and financial activities.
Employment in retail trade increased by 36,000 last month and has increased by 322,000 jobs over the last year. Within the sector, motor vehicle and parts dealers added 13,000 jobs, while employment continued to trend up in food and beverage stores (+6,800) and general merchandise stores (+6,000).
Employment within the health care sector increased by 28,000 jobs in July, while professional and technical services added 27,000 jobs, and financial activities rose by 17,000 jobs.
Employment in other major industries, including construction, wholesale trade, information, and government, showed little change over the month. Mining employment continued to trend down in July, losing 5,000 jobs.
After revisions, total nonfarm payroll employment for the month of May and June were revised from 254,000 to 260,000 and 223,000 to 231,000 jobs, respectively. With these revisions, employment gains in May and June combined were 14,000 higher than previously reported. Over the past 3 months, job gains have averaged 235,000 per month.
