Legendary broadcaster addressed Media School students at alma mater in real-time from Miami, FL via Geniecast

Geniecast, The Virtual Experience Company, produced a special live virtual event with legendary broadcaster Joe Buck as he addressed The Media School at Indiana University while preparing for Super Bowl LIV in Miami, FL.

The Super Bowl is the most-watched sporting event on national television, and as Buck geared up for the broadcast--his sixth time behind the mic for the Big Game--he took time out of his schedule to talk with students at IU, his alma mater, about what goes into calling a game of that magnitude.

In this exclusive dialogue with students of The Media School, Buck discussed everything from how he prepares for the event to the work behind the scenes, and what it takes to bring everything together to make the broadcast happen. He also covered how he got to where he is today, including his turns behind the mic while an undergrad at IU, and kept the conversation going with the students from IU’s Sports Media program as well as others within The Media School.

“I’ve been doing this broadcast thing for a long time and sometimes take for granted what an incredible experience it is to be part of the most-watched broadcast event on national television,” Buck said. “I love sharing my experience with others, especially students who are eager to learn the business. It's exciting to work with Geniecast to be able to engage with students at IU in real time while I’m in my hotel in Miami, just days before the game. It’s pretty cool.”

It’s the second time in less than a year Geniecast has produced an event with Buck right before he takes the mic to broadcast a major sports championship. In October 2019, they paired up for FanCast, an engaging Q&A session that took place in real-time from Washington, DC before and after Game 4 of the 2019 World Series.
