JBRC's expansion of hours at its Atlantic City location was made possible by a grant from the State of New Jersey Department of Human Services, Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services.
MAYS LANDING, N.J., Oct. 20, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- John Brooks Recovery Center (JBRC) has received a $200,000 grant for Expanded Hours for Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Outpatient Programs from the State of New Jersey Department of Human Services (DHS), Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS).
The grant is being funded through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration's (SAMHSA) State Opioid Response to Grants (SOR). JBRC is one of 10 grant recipients in the state.
Michael Santillo, Director II of John Brooks Recovery Center, A Member of AtlantiCare, says that with the addition of the expanded hours for SUD outpatient programs at JBRC's Atlantic City location (1931 Bacharach Blvd.), individuals with an SUD will have access to standard and intensive outpatient services that include individual, group and family counseling sessions; psycho-education classes; medication assisted treatment; co-occurring medical and mental health screening, treatment and referral; medication monitoring; case management services; recovery support services, and overdose education and Naloxone distribution, provided Monday through Saturday from 5pm to 8pm in downtown Atlantic City.
According to the DMHAS, the expanded hours for SUD outpatient programs will provide increased access to outpatient treatment for individuals with an SUD.
"The purpose of outpatient services is to support, enhance and encourage the emotional development and the development of client's life skills in order to maximize their individual functioning during alternate times from standard business hours (after hours and weekends)," according to the DMHAS. "These services are designed to preserve or improve current functioning, strengths and resources."
"By extending our outpatient treatment hours, we are increasing access to care for individuals suffering from an SUD and removing traditional barriers that would encourage ongoing treatment," said Santillo.
