MOORESVILLE, N.C. (PRWEB) October 14, 2019
Kari Warberg Block, CEO/Founder of award-winning plant-based pest control brand, EarthKind, is a proud recipient of this year’s GMDC Champions of Change award in the Emerging Champions category. Warberg Block received formal induction into the inaugural 2019 class at this week’s Selfcare Summit in Indianapolis, joining 54 other industry champions in the space.
Formally recognized for their “consistent demonstration of excellence and superior results between March 1st, 2018 and March 1st, 2019,” GMDC and Champions of Change program co-host Winsight Grocery Business define Emerging Champions as “inspirational retail industry professionals” from various sectors that are “making a mark, and a difference, in their stores, companies and communities through demonstrated leadership, results-oriented achievements, peer mentoring, and related exceptional contributions to their companies’ overall success.”
As a female farmer turned conscious CEO, Kari’s advancements in these categories furthers her quest to provide consumers with safer, healthier, and environmentally-friendlier pest control options. For the past 15-years, Kari has ‘championed change’ by making it her mission to challenge an industry that’s not only been poisoning pests, but by effect, poisoning our food-chain and environment, while compromising the safety of our families, pets and homes. In doing so, she’s helped shift consumer reliance on toxic home pest control methods from 98% when she first started to 90% today. By leveraging the power of nature’s bio-pesticides to rival conventional agro-chemicals, Kari’s created plant-based products that function without poisons and without killing.
“As a female entrepreneur, I’m deeply honored to be recognized by Winsight Grocery Business and the GMDC as an Emerging Champion who is making a change in the future of retail,” comments Warberg Block, “I love unearthing ways to deliver new value to the industry, while at the same time helping families and businesses solve difficult pest problems without any burden to the environment, their family’s health, their pet’s health, or their savings account. Being able to continuously invent and provide preventative, effective, and safe solutions is deeply rewarding, and motivates me every day to keep educating, innovating, and raising the standard for trustworthy and transparent pest control products nationwide.”
In presenting her award, Meg Major, VP of Content for Winsight Grocery Business, said: “It’s an honor to congratulate Kari on being named among GMDC’s first-ever class of Champions of Change. Her recognition is well deserved and we’re honored to showcase and cheer her bold vision and transformative leadership.”
From March 1st, 2018 to March 1st, 2019, Kari’s continued her role as a driven, inspiring female entrepreneur and mentor, engaging in leadership activities nationwide including presenting at Natural Products Expo West, the Conscious Capitalism Summit, the Bentonville Film Festival, Lifespan’s Annual Philanthropy Event, Burt’s Bees Natural Launchpad, Soho Expo Natural Product trade show, and testifying at the first North Dakota Entrepreneurship Day at the State Capitol, securing 15M of funding for commercialization of new products within the state.
“Helping others reframe what they think is possible to achieve, and working to ignite the spark that drives them to think bigger and challenge the status quo is one of the best parts of my job,” notes Warberg Block, “Being able to mentor entrepreneurs, female farmers and my team is not only rewarding and fun, but also strategic. I feel it’s deeply needed to be a leader that helps others cultivate new potential in their lives - whether that be personally, or through their businesses.”
Kari’s unconventional products coupled with her innovative retail approach has landed her products nationwide shelf-space in major retailers like ACE Hardware, Lowes, Tractor Supply, Target, The Container Store, John Deere and more, with approximately 5,000 new store doors secured for 2020. Always leading with values of conscious capitalism, Kari states that, “Ethical leadership creates encouragement, inspiration and drive to keep innovating and moving forward. I’ve found that these values each balance each other, keeping us competitive and driven, while fostering a cooperative, diverse and inclusive environment.”
