ClayDean Electric and Bayaud Enterprises are jointly committed to solving the problem of keeping electricians employed and cutting down on the turnover inherent to the electrical industry through the help and support of community partners like Bayaud.
On this episode, Tammy joined ClayDean's President Adam Feuerstein, Director of Talent Acquisitions/HR/Safety Liaison Amy Van Meter, and New Energy Development Michael Tipton. They discussed a range of issues important to job seekers:
How a network of community partners strengthens employment:
At ClayDean, Amy Van Meter, Director of Talent Acquisitions/HR/Safety Liaison, has been growing the electrical contractor's community partner program to over 100 partners to support employees. A well know reality, the electricians field has a high turnover rate. Van Meter is charged with solving that problem of hiring and firing, by finding ways to keep people in their jobs. "I've got one employee who needs help with English, so we have a community partner who supports him there. One of our vets needed help buying tools, so we had a veteran's organization come and do that with him. Our community partner program is all about finding out what an employee is lacking so that we can find a way to provide that and keep them in their jobs. And it's good for our business, too, because then we don't have to find a replacement."
- Bayaud's range of services to support job seekers, not least with their famous "shower trucks."
- "Bayaud Enterprises went to the people that we serve and said, 'How can we help you what, what would you like us to do?' And they told us that one of the hurdles to employment is not having clean clothes. So we took one of our old shredding trucks and put in washers and dryers," shared Bellofatto in the podcast interview.
- "It's a free service to people experiencing homelessness. They come by they drop off their laundry in the morning, we wash it, we dry it, and we fold it for them. Because really, when you think about it, if you don't have clean clothes, it's not comfortable to sit in an interview when you don't smell very nice, right?" Bellofatto explained. "We went back out to the community and said, 'Now what else would you like?' And they said, 'We'd like a shower track because we'd like to be able to shower and put on clean clothes and go to a job interview.'"
Bellofatto's own journey from homelessness to heading the organization:
In the "You Can Overcome Anything" episode of Table26, Bellofatto shares her own personal experiences, "I wouldn't give up my own personal experiences for the world. What I've come through makes me who I am today. I've been able to come through it and come out on the other side. So can those that we work with a Bayaud Enterprises"
