Ken Pribil Jr. Foundation Grants $18,000 to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center for Angiosarcoma Research
The Ken Pribil Jr. Foundation recently granted $18,000 to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) to support targeted angiosarcoma cancer research being performed in New York, NY. This 2019 grant comes as a 20% increase to the previous year's grant, also given to MSK, and fulfills the organization's mission of supporting and creating awareness for sarcoma cancer research.
ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y., Jan. 20, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Ken Pribil Jr. Foundation recently made its sixth annual Sarcoma Research Grant in the amount of $18,000 to support targeted angiosarcoma cancer research being performed at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) in New York, NY. This grant fulfills the organization's mission of commemorating the life of Kenny Pribil Jr., 19-year-old angiosarcoma cancer victim from Rockville Centre, NY, through annual grants that support sarcoma cancer research, and comes as a 20% increase to the previous year's grant.

This 2019 Ken Pribil Jr. Sarcoma Cancer Research Grant supports the research of Cristina R. Antonescu, MD, Director of MSK's Bone and Soft Tissue Pathology Service and one of the leading experts in angiosarcoma, a sarcoma subtype that forms in the inner lining of blood vessels. Her research is focused on the molecular mechanisms driving these tumors, how and why resistance begins, and genetic underpinnings that can be used to target angiosarcomas.
Since its inception in 2006, the Ken Pribil Jr. Foundation has given research grants to benefit sarcoma research at various institutions, including the Children's Hospital at Montefiore (CHAM) in the Bronx, NY. The Foundation has also supported business-focused undergraduate study with college scholarships, and plans to give its 20th scholarship to a graduating student from South Side High School in Rockville Centre, NY this June.
