Kent County Council commission new modular classroom
(PRWEB UK) 29 May 2014 -- A new £130,000 classroom for Skinners School in Tunbridge Wells, Kent took just 4 weeks to build at Danzer's production facility in Nottingham.
The building is sunk into the ground to provide DDA compliant level access, and has been designed with additional steel work to accommodate a further storey for a second phase. The school since announced that funding has been granted, and the second phase will commence in the coming weeks, with installation over the summer months.
The new modular building features a suspended ceiling to help meet acoustic requirements, and is finished in vinyl coated plasterboard walls, with a plastisol steel exterior finish, and a single membrane roof system. Danzer also undertook additional trenching work to bring in a new power supply which involved pre-planning, and liaison with the network provider.
To get the building on to the site Danzer undertook a full road closure which involved consulting with the local highways authority 8 weeks in advance, to gain all of the necessary permissions. Danzer also undertook a local mail shot campaign to inform nearby residents about possible disruptions which included a 2 week road closure, traffic management programme, and diversions which Danzer implemented.
Skinner's School is delighted with the appearance of the finished building, and the fact that Danzer were able to complete and handover on schedule, with a minimum of fuss.
