This approval came from the Kentucky Department of Education after Walton-Verona Independent Schools petitioned on behalf of J.W. Speaker for the installation of Model 8900 and 8910 5" x 7" and Model 8700 7" LED headlights.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there are an average of 128 school-transportation-related fatalities each year. Of those, nine percent are occupants of school transportation vehicles and 20 percent are pedestrians, bicyclists, etc. These statistics, among others, prompted Walton-Verona Independent Schools to present an independent assessment of J.W. Speaker lights to the Department of Education in February 2019.
