KEO Marketing Creates New Contest to Build Empathy Through Gamification

KEO Marketing, an innovative digital marketing company based in Phoenix, is excited to announce the new Building Empathy Challenge. This contest is open to anyone with a creative design idea for a new app that will let the user "try on" another person's life to see things from a new perspective.

The goal of the Empathy App is to let users experience the way others are treated at work and in social situations. Whether the character is that of a celebrity, refugee or homeless person, this app would help users step into the character's shoes to better understand their thoughts, beliefs, and fears.

The challenge comes from KEO Marketing CEO, Sheila Kloefkorn, who has a personal interest in increasing global empathy by leveraging immersive, cutting-edge technology. "As the world becomes more polarized, it becomes easy to block opinions we do not agree with, making it more important than ever to find new ways to understand people from different backgrounds and beliefs," says Kloefkorn. "The Building Empathy Challenge seeks to empower the public and build empathy one person at a time with exposure to new perspectives."

KEO Marketing is offering $10,000 in prize money for the best theoretical app designs that explain how they will use change theory, gamification, augmented or virtual reality, or other means to mirror another person's life for two hours. The game will measure increases in empathy. The contest runs through June 1, 2018, with details listed on the website. 

The Building Empathy Challenge is hosted by HeroX, a platform designed to create a challenge around a problem or opportunity, and build a community interested in finding innovative solutions.
