The K3 Pro is ultra-slim, has wireless connectivity, and is QMK/VIA enabled
HONG KONG, Oct. 19, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Today, Keychron, established manufacturer of wireless mechanical keyboards for Mac, Windows and Android, launched a crowdfunding campaign for the professional edition of their best-selling K3 ultra slim customizable mechanical keyboard. K3 Pro offers a few industry "firsts." K3 Pro will be the first-ever low profile mechanical keyboard to come with wireless connectivity and support QMK/VIA. It is also the first keyboard to ever be equipped with double-shot PBT low profile keycaps. It is available on the Kickstarter platform starting at the early bird price of $89 USD. Three models are available—white backlit, RBG backlit, RGB hot swappable.
"We ran a Kickstarter for the original K3 back in October 2020. We successfully fulfilled to our backers and have been selling this model directly to customers since December 2020, with rave reviews. Customers have said they really love the low profile design and the powerful features," said Paul Tan, COO of Keychron. "It felt symbolic to return to the platform again with K3 Pro. We wanted to give our incredible community a chance for a first crack at this world's first."
"K3 Pro offers revolutionized and durable performance in every way possible," continued Tan. "Like its predecessor, it has a 75% layout which is a compact version of tenkeyless (TKL) and is crafted for productivity because it allows users access to all the essential multimedia and function keys, but with a smaller footprint. Pro offers all of the same features as the original, but where it really stands out is with its full QMK and VIA support that allows for customization for every key and every system, the double-shot PBT low profile keycaps, and the fact that it's a hot swappable low profile mechanical keyboard."
There are endless possibilities for a fluid workflow with full QMK/VIA support on both the Bluetooth and wired modes. Users can easily remap any key and create macro commands, shortcuts, or combination keys on different layers—no matter if they're on macOS, Windows, or Linux—calling an end to key frustrations. Whether users want to go wireless or wired, they can multitask with up to three devices seamlessly. The K3 Pro can connect to multiple devices via Bluetooth 5.1 or connect to a single device via its reliable type-C cable. It also comes with a unique Mac layout while still retaining compatibility with Windows.
At 12.2mm, the Gateron low profile mechanical switch is 31% slimmer than a conventional switch (typically 17.9mm), while still delivering a distinguished tactile response in the durable house build. The overall height of the finished keyboard is 22mm at the rear, and 17mm at the front, which is slimmer than a quarter.
Designed for premium type feeling, the K3 Pro comes with Keychron's unique double-shot PBT keycaps made from durable non-backlight shine through PBT material with excellent oil resistance for long-term use. These are the first ever double-shot PBT low profile keycaps for a low profile keyboard. Users can easily hot-swap every low profile Gateron mechanical switch to customize their typing experience without soldering. It doesn't matter if its linear, tactile, or clicky switches, they can just be popped in, and it's done.
