Q9 is a tiny, but powerful, mechanical keyboard for keyboard enthusiasts and people on-the-go
HONG KONG, Aug. 17, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Today Keychron, established manufacturer of wireless mechanical keyboards for Mac, Windows and Android, launched direct sales of Q9 on the brand's website. This model is a full aluminum mechanical keyboard in the niche mini 40% layout. Q9 comes with a fully assembled version, but users can customize every part of the Q9 with ease to create their ultimate typing experience. The barebone version is $139 USD and the fully assembled version is $159 USD.
"At Keychron, we're committed to making products for keyboards enthusiasts, which often means creating keyboards that not many companies are willing to make," said Paul Tan, COO of Keychron. "Q9 is perfect for people who want the most mini size keyboard. The 40% layout is extremely compact, removing the number row, function keys, navigation keys, and sometimes even the punctuation keys."
With its all-metal CNC machined body, double-gasket mount design, hot swappable switches, QMK/VIA support, Windows/Mac compatibility, and south-facing RGB, the Q9 meets practical needs and provides a high-end typing experience. The Double Gasket Design is a new innovative structure in the industry. In addition to the gaskets on the plates, we added silicone pads between the top and bottom cases to significantly reduce the sound resonance between the metals and reduce the noise of the impacted metals. This Double-Gasket Structure allows the keyboard to maintain the flexibility of the gasket structure and improves the overall typing sound.
"40% keyboards are the most barebone that you can still type on. Because there are no numbers on the top row, non-letter keys like backspace or ESC, it takes a bit of time to get used to frequently changing layers to enter numbers and symbols. However, with the VIA configuration tool, users can create their own combination keys and access all keys" said Tan.
"Despite the longer learning curve, with some practice, the pay-off is massive," continued Tan. "Most typists using the 40% layout report that removing all of that clutter and putting in the time to configure their own input layout really boosts their typing speed and the shortcuts become second nature."
By nature, a 40% layout is highly customizable to allow users to program the full functionality they need on less than 50 keys. And because of its small size, it's highly portable. Users can easily pack it away and take this keyboard with them on the road. For this reason, it's perfect for travelers. A smaller footprint on a desk also means more space for the mouse to move around in gaming to create a more ergonomic gaming setup.
Q9 is compatible with Mac and Windows. It offers a unique Mac layout that retains the same multimedia and function keys as the Apple keyboard, while still being compatible with Windows devices with a reliable type-c cable.
