Rock first began to see his career take off in the late 1990s with the release of his album, Devil Without a Cause. The record reached as high as No. 4 on the Billboard 200 album charts and has sold more than 11 million copies in the United States, earning Diamond certification from the Recording Industry Association of America. Three years later, he followed up Rebel with Cocky, which sold more than 5 million copies in the United States. It wasn’t until his 2007 album, Rock n Roll Jesus, did he finally reach the top of the Billboard album charts.
When Rock takes the stage throughout his tour this year, his fans will hope to hear many of the hits that he released when he was beginning his rise in the music business, as well as some of his newer material. Among his greatest hits fans will want to hear include “Cowboy,” “Bawitdaba,” and “All Summer Long,” as well as newer songs like “First Kiss.”
Rock will be making several major stops along the way on this tour including the PNC Music Pavilion in Charlotte, NC, Bethel Woods Center for the Arts in Bethel, NY, Gexa Energy Pavilion in Dallas, TX, Sleep Train Amphitheatre in Marysville, CA, and many others. Some of the biggest stops on the tour will take place at the DTE Energy Music Theatre in Detroit/Clarkson, MI. Over the course of 9 days in August, Rock will perform at the DTE 6 times.
Each time Rock comes back to the area, he goes out of his way to put on a memorable show for the hometown crowd and he will look to do the same later this year. The DTE Energy Music Theatre originally opened in 1972 and can seat 15,274 fans including more than 7,200 fans in the pavilion of the theatre and the remaining amount in the lawn section. The venue is one of the most historic and loved in the United States for outdoor music venues and has continually been called one of the best. It has won countless awards since opening and continues to attract big stars each year including Green Day, Joni Mitchell, Barenaked Ladies, Grateful Dead, and Phish.
