CHICAGO, Jan. 22, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Kin Insurance, an insurtech startup that is rebuilding homeowners insurance through big data and user-friendly technology, announced today that seasoned insurance executive Greg Meyer joins its team as chief insurance officer. Meyer brings more than two decades of claims, underwriting, product management, pricing, loss reserving, policyholder and agency service, and distribution experience to the company.
Before joining Kin, Meyer was chief operating officer of CSAA Insurance Group, a $4 billion premium insurer of homeowner, auto, and umbrella insurance operating in 23 states. At CSAA, Meyer was responsible for all aspects of insurance operations. Prior to CSAA, Meyer was president of Adirondack Insurance Exchange and New Jersey Skylands Insurance Exchange. He also previously worked in various leadership capacities at Allstate, Fireman's Fund, Progressive, and Zurich North America.
A graduate of the University of Illinois in Champaign Urbana, Meyer earned his MBA from the University of Chicago. He previously served on the board of directors of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
"Joining Kin is energizing," said Meyer. "Kin's founders, Sean Harper and Lucas Ward, have developed a fully-functional online insurance purchasing and servicing platform that integrates policy administration, billing, and accounting functionality. Legacy homeowner insurance carriers remain highly inefficient, high priced, slow to adapt, and do not offer the customer experience homeowners expect. By combining the convenience of modern technology with personal service, Kin provides a far superior product and customer experience at a lower price."
His experience is at home with Kin team members who also have backgrounds with legacy insurance companies like PURE, Progressive, and Allstate. Whereas their talents might've been stymied by outdated technology in previous roles, at Kin, they have the modern capabilities to enact real change for homeowners.
"We need the best minds in the industry to change it," Kin CEO Sean Harper said. "We are excited to have Greg onboard to help us rethink what's possible and to solve present-day and future insurance problems."
