KMK Equity, LLC (KMK) announced today that Wendy’s will occupy a lot at the company’s Independence Plaza in Lowell.

The global quick service restaurant franchise secured the corner lot at West Monroe Avenue and South Goad Springs Road. It is one of the first occupants to be announced for the development, which includes planned office, retail and hotel development along the 30-plus acres on the southwest corner of I-49 and West Monroe Avenue in Lowell. In addition, plans call for a coffee kiosk location next to the restaurant.

“We’re excited to be able to announce our first occupant,” said KMK Manager Scott Dillard. “We’re looking forward to adding more food, retail and other options for the community as we continue to address additional tenant demand for the location.”

The development also includes a separate 15,503+/- square-foot retail center that is scheduled for completion in January 2022 and includes end-cap options for a drive-thru. A dental office has secured one of the interior suites. On the south side of the property, KMK plans for more than 200,000 square feet of office space that offers both planned and “build-to-suit” options. With its proximity along the Razorback Greenway Trail, Independence Plaza will include an 8-foot bike path that will run along an interior street within the development to provide cyclists a safe environment to make a pit stop, or to enjoy the planned amenities.
