Black-owned gallery returns to contemporary art show to debut a series of new works and create a more inclusive experience for attendees
OAK BLUFFS, Mass. and MIAMI, Fla., Nov. 21, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Knowhere Art Gallery (Booth F05) joins SCOPE Miami Beach (Nov. 29-Dec. 4) for the second consecutive year, hosting a solo exhibition that presents Charly Palmer and the artist's new Infinite Black collection.
"The Infinite Black collection is inspired by our power and our strength. It's about the celebration of WE. It is about who we are, what we are, and our past, present, and future," said Charly Palmer, featured artist. "Infinite Black is distinct from my past projects because of the scale of the works. This collection features larger and bolder works that I hope inspires reflection, conversation, and perhaps a fresh perspective on the boundless possibilities that lie within Blackness."

Notably, Palmer was commissioned in 2020 by TIME Magazine to create the cover of its "America Must Change" issue and was invited to design the cover portrait of John Legend's GRAMMY Award-winning album, "Bigger Love." He also designed the cover of the NBA's 75th anniversary edition 2K22 video game and has most recently been commissioned by the United States Postal Service to produce the signature stamp for Black History Month 2023.

About Charly Palmer (b. 1960 - Fayette, Alabama)
Charly Palmer coined the phrase "Art should change the temperature in a room." And for more than 30 years, his art has done just that. In every painting, Palmer bears witness to African ancestry and contemporary experiences—rhythmic, visual stories that shift what each viewer understands. Palmer was invited by John Legend in 2020 to create a cover portrait for his Grammy Award-winning "Bigger Love" album. He was also commissioned by TIME Magazine to create the cover art and illustrations for their "America Must Change" July 2020 issue, based on his 30 years' experience painting on the subject of race. Most recently, Palmer has been commissioned by the United States Postal Service to design the signature stamp for Black History Month 2023. He is widely recognized not only as a fine artist but also as an author and illustrator of children's books, a teacher, and a mentor. He debuted as an author-illustrator in 2022 with "The Legend of Gravity" and in 2018 received the Coretta Scott King-John Steptoe Award for New Talent in Illustration for "Mama Africa." Palmer completed studies in Chicago at the American Academy of Art and School of Art Institute. He resides in Atlanta with his wife, Dr. Karida Brown, and dogs Pugsly and Blu. After graduating from Hunter College with a BFA in Printmaking, Interior & Architectural Design, and an MBA in Marketing from Rutgers Business School, Francis amassed a wealth of experience in the global health and technology field with over a decade in the public health sector with Sanofi. Francis serves on the board for Artists for Humanity (Boston, MA), the Leo Project (Nanyuki, Kenya), and the Martha's Vineyard Center of Visual Arts.
