LOS ANGELES, Sept. 13, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (Habitat LA) is thrilled to have been the beneficiary of Kylie Jenner's annual birthday fundraiser with Kylie Cosmetics. Kylie put out a call to action on her social media informing fans that a portion of all proceeds from products purchased at KylieCosmetics.com on her birthday would be donated to Habitat LA. The response was overwhelming, and Habitat LA is excited to announce that enough money was raised to fund an entire home. In addition to becoming a house sponsor, Kylie Jenner will help build the home alongside its future homeowners during a special build day with family and friends, to be announced. Kylie Jenner's sponsored home is one of ten homes currently being built in Culver City.

Habitat LA partners with families and individuals in Greater Los Angeles to provide a "hand up" not a hand out. The journey to homeownership includes trainings and classes through Habitat LA's Family Investment Program, as well as completing 500 hours of sweat equity building their own home and the homes of other future homeowners. Kylie Jenner's donation will fund the construction of an entire home, and its homeowners will purchase the home and pay back an affordable mortgage, which will then be used to build future Habitat homes. For Habitat LA homeowners, their monthly mortgage payment is typically much less than the rent they were paying prior to homeownership. Habitat LA has a less than one percent default rate in its nearly 30-year history, and because the homeowners build their homes they remain in the family for multiple generations.
Habitat LA has committed $100 million toward increasing access to affordable homeownership opportunities and revitalizing neighborhoods throughout greater Los Angeles by 2020 as part of its Building a Greater Los Angeles campaign. This investment will benefit the local economy by building strong and stable homes in partnership with families, individuals, volunteers, municipalities and donors, which will bring strength and stability to local communities throughout greater Los Angeles.
