New Immersive Art Suite Debuts Featuring Puerto Rican Contemporary Artists
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, Sept. 10, 2026 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- La Concha Resort, Puerto Rico, an Autograph Collection Hotel, is pleased to announce the debut of its new Art in Residence program, an immersive guest experience developed in collaboration with Galería SURCO that brings Puerto Rico's vibrant contemporary art scene into the resort's accommodations. The program transforms select Executive Corner Suites into curated art experiences featuring the work of local artists, inviting guests to live among the art while discovering the island's creative community throughout their stay.
The first Art Suite is located within a 970-square-foot, one-bedroom Executive Corner Suite in La Concha Resort's Ocean Tower and showcases the work of Puerto Rican contemporary artist Carlos Rivera, known as Carlitos Skillz. Featuring sweeping ocean views, the suite serves as a private gallery with a curated collection of Rivera's work spanning paintings, sculptures, ceramics, video art and a custom mural.
Rooted in Bayamón, Puerto Rico, Rivera is a multidisciplinary artist whose work explores themes of identity, family history, Puerto Rico's rural landscape and the island's social realities. At the center of the suite is Calle Capella, a body of work inspired by photographs taken by Rivera's mother throughout his upbringing and reimagined through the artist's perspective. The collection brings together color, memory and a sense of place to offer guests an intimate look at Rivera's personal story and Puerto Rican culture.

The inaugural suite is the first of five Art Suites planned to debut throughout the year, each showcasing a different local artist and curated collection. Through the evolving program, La Concha Resort will continue to spotlight Puerto Rican artists and offer guests new ways to engage with the island's culture through art, design and hospitality.
Art in Residence also complements On Spotlight, La Concha Resort's ongoing art series at the Lobby Bar. Taking place throughout 2026, the series spotlights a different local artist through immersive pop-up exhibitions, live art performances and interactive showcases merging visual art, music and mixology. Upcoming On Spotlight events will take place through 2026 and 2027.
The launch of Art in Residence follows La Concha Resort's recent $80.2 million property-wide transformation and transition to Marriott International's Autograph Collection, becoming the first Autograph Collection hotel in Puerto Rico.
