LOS ANGELES, Aug. 8, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Los Angeles County Bar Association Counsel for Justice (LACBA/CFJ) 9th Annual Charity Golf Tournament and Networking Event, held at the MountainGate Country Club in Brentwood on May 21, 2018, brought together more than 120 golfers and raised over $66,000 to support LACBA's pro bono legal services projects, surpassing the fundraising efforts of past CFJ golf tournaments.
This year's golf tournament was expanded to include a special networking dinner, which attracted an additional 100 non-golfers who came out to support LACBA's AIDS Legal Services Project, Domestic Violence Legal Services Project, Immigration Legal Assistance Project, and Veterans Legal Services Project.
"The primary purpose of the CFJ is to raise funds to support LACBA's projects in order to provide access to pro bono and low cost legal services to people throughout Los Angeles County," said Mark Garscia, immediate past president of CFJ and a partner in Lewis Roca Rothgerber Christie's Intellectual Property practice group. "More than 18,000 Los Angeles residents came to LACBA's projects for help with legal issues last year, and because of our sponsors, players, and other contributors, we are able to continue helping people who need legal assistance and forward our mission to provide equal access to justice, for all."
"I am thrilled to have a part in helping raise funds to support the important mission of the Counsel for Justice," said David Kutzer, commercial real estate executive, and golf tournament committee member. "We appreciate our generous sponsors, our enthusiastic players, and our tireless volunteers. We are already hard at work planning for the 2019 tournament which will again include a networking dinner for non-golfers, and other opportunities to support the valuable services of the Counsel for Justice in our Los Angeles community."
LACBA/CFJ is grateful to the sponsors of the event, including: Gibson Dunn, Buchalter, DivcoWest, Lewis Roca Rothgerber Christie, Proskauer, Chesler McCaffrey, CommonWealth Partners, Premier Business Centers, CBRE Geoff Martin, Coalition Court Reporters, First Legal, United Litigation Discovery, Veritext Legal Solutions, JAMS, Thomas Law Offices, Fronteo, The Sanborn Team, Art's Table, Margo's, The OP Café and Ashland Hill Santa Monica.
