Lake Michigan Mailers, Inc. Announces Expansion of Scholarship Program for 2016
Kalamazoo, Michigan (PRWEB) September 08, 2015 -- Lake Michigan Mailers, Inc. announced today that it has expanded both the number of eligible private and public high schools that can participate in its scholarship program, as well as, the size of the scholarship that will be awarded in the spring of 2016 for those intending to pursue a degree in business, business management, or entrepreneurship from a four-year college or university.
The scholarship program was first announced by the company in January of 2015 as a pilot to determine the perceived value and sustainability of the program. During the pilot only applications from Lake Michigan Catholic High School in Saint Joseph, Michigan and Hackett Catholic Prep in Kalamazoo, Michigan were considered. The 2015 prize awarded two prizes of $1,000 each to qualified graduating seniors who intend to pursue a degree in business, business management, or entrepreneurship from a four-year college or university.
The minimum requirements of the scholarship include:
• A cumulative G.P.A. of not less than 3.5 (non-weighted) as verified by the high school
• Meaningful involvement in community service
• Meaningful involvement in school-based extracurricular activities
“We felt strongly that we could effectively expand our scholarship program to other schools in our region,” said David C. Rhoa, president of Lake Michigan Mailers, Inc. “We spent a large portion of the summer months dialoging with guidance counselors at regional high schools to revise our program to be both highly competitive and economically substantial. Our 2016 Scholarship represents the results of that dialog,” Rhoa concluded.
The 2016 Scholarship Program will utilize the same selection criteria as the 2015 program but will be expanded to a single award of $2,000 and made available to seniors graduating from any private or public school in the following counties:
Indiana: Elkhart, Kosciusko, LaGrange, Marshall, and Saint Joseph
Michigan: Berrien, Branch, Calhoun, Cass, Hillsdale, Jackson, Saint Joseph, and Van Buren.
