Lake Prince Woods Helps Seniors Improve Driver Safety
(PRWEB) January 08, 2015 -- Many things have changed since today’s seniors began driving years ago. Cars have changed. So have traffic rules, driving conditions, and the roads travelled each day.
Each year Lake Prince Woods retirement community hosts the AARP Driver Safety Course. This year’s class will be on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 9 and 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Participants must attend both days to successfully complete the course.
By taking a driver safety course seniors will learn the current rules of the road, defensive driving techniques, and how to operate a vehicle more safely in today's increasingly challenging driving environment. How to manage and accommodate common age-related changes in vision, hearing and reaction time will also be addressed in the class.
According to the AARP website, a recent poll showed that 97 percent of participants changed at least one key driving behavior after taking the course. Seniors may be eligible to receive an insurance discount or receive a discount on roadside assistance plans upon completion of the course.
The classroom course costs $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members. To register, contact Denise Brown, Resident Services Director, at 923-5513 or dbrown(at)uchas(dot)org.
