Lakeside of the Smokies Balloon Festival Features Hot Air Balloons and Tennessee Wines from Nine Lakes Wine Country, October 26 and 27, 2019
A new event in Nine Lakes Wine Country features hot air balloons, a wine tasting, activities for children and more, Oct. 26-27, 2019, produced by the Middle East Tennessee Tourism Council.
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn., April 5, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Organizers have announced the dates of October 26 and 27 for the first Annual Lakeside of the Smokies Balloon Fest, to be held on the Chilton Farm in White Pine, Tennessee. With the backdrop of Douglas Lake and the Great Smoky Mountains, the autumn hues and colorful hot air balloons will provide a picture perfect view for balloon ride registrants, as well as Tennessee wine tasting from Nine Lakes Wine Country.
The event will also "toast" the agricultural roots of the 9 Lakes region with an antique tractor show and a wine garden featuring dozens of local award winning wineries. Proceeds from the 2019 Lakeside of the Smokies Balloon Fest will go to the Middle East Tennessee Tourism Council to help in their efforts to help promote the 9 Lakes, the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, and State Parks in East Tennessee. This event is sponsored by the Middle East Tennessee Tourism Council in conjunction with Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce and Nine Lakes Wine Country.
"We are so excited to bring this awesome event to White Pine and to the region. Not only will it showcase the beauty of East Tennessee, but it will celebrate our agricultural industries and family farms." said Lauren Hurdle, director of tourism for Jefferson County. "Balloon ride tickets are already on sale, and we anticipate selling out early. This is one of the most beautiful times of year to visit the region."
The gates open daily at 1pm. A balloon glow will happen nightly at sunset. Gates close at 9 pm. Live music, food trucks, children's activities, demonstrators and artisan booths will all be part of each day's activities. A parking pass maybe purchased in advance for access to the event. Balloon rides are an additional fee.
For those wanting to guarantee either a tethered or untethered balloon ride, tickets are on sale at http://www.LOTSballoonfest.com. Untethered rides will be scheduled for early morning and late afternoon flights and are $250 per person. The flight plan will provide sweeping views of Douglas Lake and the Smokies. Tethered rides will be offered during the hours of the event and are $20 per person.

The Middle East Tennessee Tourism Council is a non-profit organization serving the sixteen counties of the East Tennessee Development District. The organization serves to support tourist promotion and development activities and serves as the lead regional tourism agency under an annual contract with the Tennessee Department of Tourist Development. The METTC membership is made up of area tourism offices, convention and visitors bureaus, chamber of commerce representatives, and other tourism businesses.
