NORWICH, Conn., Feb. 6, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Lantern Energy announced today that it has achieved a major milestone: 10 years of successful business operation. The energy efficiency firm, launched by commercial banker Peter Callan and construction expert Craig Frenkel, has helped improve the energy efficiency of more than 25,000 Connecticut homes, apartments and businesses in the past 10 years.
Lantern has grown from a small business serving the residential energy market to a larger enterprise providing insulation, electrical services, commercial energy assessments, solar, smart building technology and electric vehicle charging stations.
"We're proud of what we've built over the last 10 years. Lantern's success is rooted in the entire team's contribution from the administrative staff to those in the field working hard every day," said Peter Callan, Principal of Lantern Energy. "The growth in our business also reflects homeowners' and businesses' growing awareness of the financial and environmental benefits that energy efficiency delivers. Add to that a coming wave of smart technology and connected homes and Lantern is poised for even greater growth and expansion ahead."
Lantern Energy has beaten the odds of survival. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, only about 30% of all small businesses ever reach the 10-year mark. Callan and Frenkel launched the business in 2009 during the global financial crisis, the same time that 1,000s of small businesses in the U.S. were shutting their doors. The company also weathered last year's deep cuts to the state's energy efficiency fund, which drove competitor firms out of business.
"Lantern Energy has been a leader in green energy in Connecticut, helping to shape the industry. From the beginning they've been committed to making our state a green space and reaching more and more people and businesses in the state to lower their carbon footprint and save money on energy bills," said Madeline Priest, Manager of Residential Programs at Connecticut Green Bank. "They're always thinking ahead with expansion into areas such as commercial work and now solar and smart homes. We congratulate Lantern Energy on their milestone."
