Last Concert Café Announces August Event Calendar
Houston, TX (PRWEB) August 10, 2015 -- Houston’s Last Concert Café has announced their musical calendar for August and early September, with an eclectic mix of acts set to perform.
The calendar opens with Pigs on The Wall, a Pink Floyd tribute band, who will take the stage at 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1. They will be followed by The Dope Art Show [dear summer] edition beginning at 6 p.m. the following evening, Sunday, Aug. 2.
Jonathan Scales Fourchestra is next up at 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7. Opening will be Sun Dog Weaver, who will be holding a CD release party. They bill themselves as featuring the best classic rock from the 60s, 70s, and 80s on the planet.
Papa Mali will bring his mix of funk, blues, swamp, and soul to Last Concert Café at 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8. Tickets are $18 pre-sale on TicketFly.com and $25 at the door. Currently, Papa Mali is collaborating with the New Orleans supergroup: The M&M’s, made up of Robert Mercurio & Stanton Moore of Galactic, and John Medeski of Medeski, Martin and Wood.
Opening for Papa Mali at 6 p.m. will be Spoonfed Tribe, formed in the Fort Worth area in 1999. The band has released six albums, including 2010's Live from DFW, and is in the process of recording the follow up to 2007's Public Service Announcement.
Ghost-Note will then perform at 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 9. Tickets are $8 pre-sale and $12 on the day of the show. Tickets are available on TicketFly.com.
Local rock act Vagrant Sons will take the stage at 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, followed the next evening at 5 p.m. by Summer Shindig, a mix of poetry and live music.
At 6:30 p.m. Friday Aug, 21, Soul Control will perform. Soul Control is comprised of two of the most eclectically skilled DJs in Houston. Latin Rock Night is slated to begin at 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22. The doors open at 8 p.m. for this performance, which includes acts Espantapajaros, Elyze, and La Skandaloza. Tickets are $10 presale or $15 the day of the show.
Texas guitarist Hamilton Loomis will perform on Friday, Aug. 28.
Austin-based band MilkDrive performs at 9 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 29 to close out the month in style. Presale tickets are $10 and $15 the day of show. Tickets are available for purchase through TicketFly.com.
The Fritz, is scheduled to kick off September at 10 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3. Tickets are available through TicketFly.com and run $8 presale and $10 the day of the show.
In addition to these highlights, Last Concert Café will continue to feature open mic night hosted by Jimmy Lee Deen every Monday, Charles Bryant Showcase every Tuesday, Hellina Bucket at 8 p.m. and Potroast with Drum Circle at 10 p.m. every Wednesday, and Annie B Band at 8 p.m. and Hightailers at 10 p.m. every Thursday unless otherwise specified.
