The Latin American Association of Lifestyle Medicine (LALMA), the scientific medical professional association that represents doctors and health professionals in Latin American and Caribbean countries, is bringing a new, powerful approach to dietary assessment, coaching, and tracking to countries throughout Latin America. The organization has chosen to partner with Diet ID™, a US-based company founded by a former President of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, Dr. David L. Katz.

It will be an honor for us to collaborate on this project. It is truly a brilliant opportunity for the doctors and health professionals of LALMA.

LALMA has selected Diet ID as a partner to power its expansion of accessible, high-quality lifestyle health services to patients throughout Mexico, Peru, Argentina, and Brazil, with plans to add more countries throughout Latin America over time.

Diet ID is a suite of digital tools for assessing diet, coaching for dietary improvement, and tracking diet change efficiently and with minimal effort. A full, detailed dietary assessment can be completed in under a minute, offering the promise of “diet as a vital sign,” captured in everyone’s medical record, just as heart rate and blood pressure now are.

Diet ID founder and CEO David Katz is excited to expand his company’s offerings internationally. “We are honored to be working with LALMA in their efforts to impact the lives of the people of South and Central America. The synergy will help millions of people add years to life and life to years,” he said. Rachna Govani, Diet ID’s Chief Operating Officer, added, “This alliance is a wonderful opportunity for Diet ID to collaborate with leaders in Latin America to expand our offering. We are excited to support an important market where diet is an increasingly important factor for chronic disease prevention.”

LALMA is dedicated to the development and practice of lifestyle medicine as an intervention to prevent, treat and reverse chronic disease by directly addressing the underlying causes. Its members recognize diet as a leading predictor and cause of increasingly high rates of lifestyle-related, preventable disease.

LALMA president Dr. Jhony A. De La Cruz Vargas is committed to providing members with tools that will promote and enhance healthcare delivery. “It will be an honor for us to collaborate on this project. It is truly a brilliant opportunity for the doctors and health professionals of LALMA,” he said.

Diet is the most important predictor of our health and longevity. The Diet ID - LALMA partnership will assist healthcare providers in both the measurement and management of diet, helping to improve health outcomes for thousands of people throughout Latin America.
