MIAMI, Oct. 18, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Capturing the success and curiosity of "Latinas Rising Up In HR," author and Chicago-native, now Miami-based Human Resource Leader Priscilla Guasso recently launched "Latinas Rising Up In HR, Volume II" at the University of Miami's Herbert Business School in Storer Auditorium.
The book presents inspirational stories of aspiring human resources professionals who boldly overcame obstacles and defied statistics to achieve their dreams in corporate America, nonprofit, government and as entrepreneurs. Guasso explained that for Latina professionals to succeed in human resources and to make a change for our whole Latino community, one actionable step is to boldly share your story in your circle of influence.
"As we look at the statistics where Latinas make up less than 2% of executive roles, the wage gap that continues to widen, that Latinas make up 1% of board seats and a recent Forbes study stating 98% of HR professionals are burnt out, it is imperative that Latinas, allies and organizations come together to create ACTION to combat this within their own organizations," she said. "In our second volume we continue to encourage Latinas to take ownership of their personal development, ask questions to advocate for change and respectfully challenge our organizations to do the same through strategic action. In just two years we have seen the impact this anthology and community has had for Latinas in HR globally such as career growth, support, encouragement, resources and celebratory moments as we each achieve milestones (development and promotions)."
In Volume II, Guasso will be showcasing new stories of Latina HR professionals.

- Catherine O'Connell, Regional VP, Human Resources, Latin America & Caribbean (preface writer)

The creation of Volume II came from a few of the book's authors expressing interest in sharing more stories.
"In this volume, readers will notice amazing stories that also touch on the impact the pandemic took in the author's personal and career goals, pursuing forward to go after their dreams when odds were against them and sharing how some of the hardest moments led to some of the greatest rewards years later," Guasso said. "Readers can also consider this book to be a mentor-in-your-pocket with the rise and reflect moments at the end of each chapter."

"In 2020 I started with one dream and 20 authors. In 2021 we published in Spanish, gave away six scholarships and partnered with Netflix. Fast-forward to today we have 15 new authors, 500+ Latinas in HR, a social following of 10,000+ professionals and a purpose to share our keys and open doors based on our four pillars: Opportunity, Philanthropy, Exposure, Networking. We are grateful for our partnership with University of Miami for welcoming us on their campus." Guasso said. "My vision is to continue our movement globally, publish Volume 3 in 2023 to lift even more Latinos, Latinas, Latinx, Latine and Hispanics as Human Resources executives. Next year we plan to continue building community in 10 cities across the U.S. and globally starting in Mexico and Colombia."
