OMAHA, Neb., Feb. 28, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- At today's kick-off party, the Lauritzen Gardens Antiques Show chairmen, Fatima Basith and Debbie Wood, revealed the slate of speakers for the 16th annual show, to be held September 19- 22, 2019. Nina Campbell, Christian Tortu, and Sam Sifton will be the featured designers, authors, and trendsetters to offer profound insights and fascinating presentations to fit the show's tagline "A weekend of design, florals, and entertaining."
The one-of-a-kind cultural event and collector's experience will be held against the backdrop of the vibrant fall garden and will bring more than 20 high quality antiques exhibitors to Omaha, as well as multiple opportunities to learn about antiques and art from the experts. From mid-century modern to traditional, and everything in between, the show will feature all genres of antiques of exceptional quality and extraordinary style.
The festivities will begin on Thursday, September 19 with a reservations-only patron preview party - a chance to sip cocktails, enjoy fine food and live music, and shop the show's stunning array of antiques and art ahead of the general public.
Nina Campbell, one of the world's most respected, knowledgeable and influential interior designers, will take the stage on Friday, September 20 at the show's signature luncheon. Campbell comes from London, England, where she transformed her passion for design into a studio and retail shop in 1974. Her design aesthetic speaks to all ages and appeals to both contemporary and traditional styles. At the luncheon, Campbell will share her love for the "art of design" through her contagious wit and brilliant sense of humor.
On Saturday, September 21, renowned French designer Christian Tortu will celebrate the "art of florals" and challenge the way that guests see flowers and floral design through hands-on demonstrations at the Saturday luncheon. Tortu's work has been featured at the Cannes Film Festival and at fashion shows for couture houses Chanel, Dior and Valentino. His view of flowers as "living elements that can make life softer and more beautiful" is reflected in Tortu's signature style, which mixes flowers, plants and vegetables in highly imaginative, yet simple way.
The New York Times food editor, Sam Sifton will be the featured speaker at the luncheon on Sunday, September 22. Sifton is a Harvard educated journalist, restaurant critic, author and the founding editor of Talk magazine. He will dish out his vast knowledge, favorite recipes, experiences and stories about food and the "art of entertaining." From caviar potato chips with lemon cream to garlicky beef tenderloin with orange horseradish sauce, Mr. Sifton's food chronicles will leave guests saying "Bon appétit!"
"We are so pleased to have Nina Campbell, Christian Tortu, and Sam Sifton join us to inspire show patrons during a weekend of design, florals, and entertaining," commented event co-chairman Fatima Basith. "This event showcases an impressive lineup of speakers, as well as an incredible selection of antiques exhibitors, with merchandise that will fit all styles of décor," added co-chairman Debbie Wood. "Most importantly, the show generates generous financial support for Lauritzen Gardens, to continue to cultivate its beauty and mission," said Wood.
Show admission is $10 and includes access to the garden and the Marjorie K. Daugherty Conservatory, as well as the daily Antiques & Design Academy sessions. Reservations, which open May 1, are required for the preview party, luncheons, and other special events. The show will be open daily, Friday through Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
