Law Firm Cultivates Inclusion and Diversity Mentorship Program for High School Students
Feinberg & Waller, a professional corporation, continues to cultivate a law firm program of inclusion and diversity with its leadership award program for mock trial students.
LOS ANGELES, Sept. 14, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Feinberg & Waller Mock Trial Leadership Award is seeking high school juniors who have a love of law, have consistently shown leadership, and are passionate about the mock trial program and their communities. The award preferences marginalized students (BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, disabled students, or active allies to any of these mentioned communities). In response to the racial reckoning that our Nation has faced, the family law firm of Feinberg & Waller established an annual award for high school students. Last year, the firm expanded its fundamental cultural drive towards equality progress by launching the Feinberg & Waller Mock Trial Leadership Award in Los Angeles County. The award honors and supports a student leader in the Constitutional Rights Foundation, Los Angeles County Mock Trial Competition, a nonprofit, non-partisan educational foundation.
The firm established the award because Feinberg & Waller has seen how preconceived notions can disparagingly affect marginalized communities. Through this award, the firm can help advance racial equality and economic opportunity by investing in the lives of young people. Last year's candidates for this award were an outstanding group of impressive young students who will be future leaders in law and business. In addition to the recipient, the remarkable award semi-finalists received the opportunity to seek guidance from Feinberg & Waller attorneys.
Feinberg & Waller became affiliated with the mock trial program more than a decade ago when certified family law specialist, Marshall Waller, helped form a high school mock trial team through the Ventura County Office of Education, partnered with the Constitutional Rights Foundation. He and his daughter, Lauren Waller, have volunteered together for many years as mock trial coaches, teaching students about the law, presentation, and courtroom demeanor.
The Waller's and other firm members mentored the first award recipient and her team in 2020. Mentorship sessions covered mock trial-related questions and overall concepts of law. In addition, the sessions included knowledge, expertise, and advice on becoming a lawyer, what the field of law looks like, and college advice. Also covered were meaningful conversations regarding social justice and advocacy.
The law office of Feinberg & Waller is a results-driven law firm practicing exclusively in family law. The attorneys at the firm are in the legal profession to help people, children, and families. They have shown a devoted history of using the firm's resources to serve as leaders in the community through nonprofit organizations, civil and social initiatives, public policy advocacy, and furthering education. The law firm is known throughout Southern California for its skilled, effective, well-crafted, and refined factual legal presentations. Three of the firm partners are Certified Family Law Specialists; each attorney is articulate, business savvy, a writer, and a litigator. The firm is comprised of dedicated lawyers and staff who take pride in the firm's sustained commitment to inclusion and diversity.
The deadline to apply for this award is September 30, 2021. Interested candidates can find details of the monetary award and mentorship/leadership program on Feinberg & Waller's Community Outreach page: https://www.feinbergwaller.com/about/community-outreach/
